Overcoming Gender Stereotypes when choosing a profession in aviation

Overcoming Gender Stereotypes

AVICON proudly presents our new project: Overcoming Gender Stereotypes when choosing a profession in aviation.
This project is starting with support of Skopje’s municipality Karposh and is initially intended for the 9th graders, an age when students start thinking about their future profession more seriously.
The project consists of three parts: a video (collaboration with MOF), a workshop (collaboration with University of Skopje) and a field trip to the sports airfield Stenkovec in the vicinity of Skopje (collaboration with Aeroclub Skopje).
The first step was making the video. It was done in the premises of the MOF – Youth Educational Forum in Skopje.

Four aviation professions were looked closely through “the other gender” perspective.
Vesna Petreska Micevski explained the story through her eyes as a police helicopter pilot at the Ministry for Internal Affair, Vladimir Stojchevski as a Cabin Crew Member at Wizzair, Nena Shabotikj as an aircraft maintenance engineer at Global Maintenance and Natasha Mijat Krstevska as an air traffic controller at M-NAV a.d. Skopje.

Special thanks to participants that made this video possible.

This video is to be presented in front of the students that are 9th grade at Karposh municipality primary schools.

The second step is the workshop which is to be held on Thursday 08th of June, at the University of Skopje, starting 10:00 o’clock and focused on the most enthusiastic students from the Karposh Municipality 9the grade.

The filed trip will be additionally arranged and announced.

We’ll keep you posted how everything develops…
Stay tuned and stand by.
