Novmber 13th 2022, was the date for the Second Avicon’s SKOPJE AIR FAIR. It was the same location, Skopje City Park, the support came from the same place, City of Skopje (upgraded with a friendly assistance from Karpos Municipality, Pakomak and Skopje Brewery). But the challenge was different…
Avicon’s Team wanted to present a certain degree of maturity. We wanted to expand the Fair’s participants not only beyond the previous year’s list participants, but also beyond Macedonian borders.
Our mission, to give the Macedonian youth the possibility to consider the aviation as their professional option, made us ambitious to the point to reach out primarily to all of the aviation possible employers here in our country.
So this year, the Macedonian CAA as the major legislative aviation body was at the Skopje Air Fair, together with M-NAV a.d. Skopje, which is the air navigation service provider and TAV who is the airport operator for both international airports in the RN Macedonia (Skopje and Ohrid).
The military Academy was also at the Fair to explain the military aviation option with two of their student representatives.
The Macedonian Aviation Federation together with the modeling team made a special surprise for the youngest visitors at the Fair organizing a competition in throwing a model plane. Also the Skopje Aero Club stand was visited with the great deal of interest by the teenagers since they had brought a real parachute.
The Aero Club from Shtip was also presenting their possibilities and Ad Verbum from Skopje who are the certified MayFlower TEA test providers for Aviation English.
But the true pearls of the event were our guests from abroad, the Aviation Academy from Belgrade and our exclusive guest the WIZZ Air Pilot Cadet Program.
Mr. Demirovic accompanied with his students from the Aviation Academy from Belgrade brought materials and was a true representative of this institution.
Our exclusive guest, Wizz Air Pilot Cadet Program from Budapest, Hungary, was represented by Ms. Zsarnay, who answered every question regarding this program to the visitors. On the stand she was accompanied both by professional pilots from Wizz Air as well as cadet student pilots who were more than happy to share their experience and answer every eager visitor’s question.
AVICON members, who are aviation professionals from different fields, were answering questions in a most friendly and humble way trying to bring the so abstract and untouchable aviation closer to the high school and college students visiting the SKOPJE AIR FAIR that day.
Our association managed to expand the occupational handbook that was free to give away to the visitors, and also presented the materials sent from the European Aviation Institute from Romania.
Special gratitude to all the participants who took the time and effort to make Skopje Air Fair truly and outstanding educational aviation fair. Thank you for assisting us in this mission to bring aviation closer to younger generation.
We managed to put Skopje once again on the aviation educational map, and if only one kid who was there that day ends up in the aviation tomorrow, then we have completed our mission successfully.
